Do you ever wish you could just write a letter?

Somedays, I really wish I could just pick up the phone and call my parents. Ask my mom what I should do when my daughter starts acting like a snarky butt munch, or ask my dad any advice on techniques I can use to teach my son how to catch a baseball. But having lost them both, I can't. Somedays, the need to tell them something is so overwhelming, I have actually found the phone in my hand, ready to dial a number I haven't used in more than 10 years. And then, I decide to write them a letter.

As God's children, here on earth and not in Heaven, we don't know what goes on there. God gives us little insights into His kingdom through the Bible, but do you ever wonder if our loved ones that have passed-on know what's up down here? Do you ever wonder if God gives them updates, or if He allows them to peek in on us from time to time? I know scripture verses to give me strength and confidence in almost every area of my life, but I can't remember reading any that tell me if they know. But I really hope He lets them read the letters I sometimes write. Like the one I want to write today...

Dear Mama and Daddy,

We did it! Amber and I finally did it! Amber just graduated from college. It took her a while, several major changes, several different colleges, but she finally did it! I'm so very proud of her. We'll see what's next with her soon, but I wanted you to know that she did it!

And me? Well, I registered for classes today. 14 years after leaving college and saying that yes, I'll go back next year, I finally am going to do it. My first day is August 10. (Well, as long as the financial aid goes through. Put in a good word for me?) I'm going for my BS in History, and maybe a minor in English. Matt says I'll do great in both subjects. I really hope so. I'm going to an online school out of Iowa, so we'll see how it goes. I'm nervous because everyone says there's a lot of writing in an online education program. I'm good at writing, but I'm a little scared at the amount. (I think I get the writing from you, Mama.)

All the grandkids are fine, Mama and Daddy. They're all growing fast. Wish you could see it! Eli looks like you, Daddy. Sis looks like Matt, Timmy looks like his daddy. Lilly and Deborah both look so much like Amber, it's like looking trough a time machine into our past and seeing her grow up all over again. Wonderful and very amazing.

We miss you and love you so very much!

Lots of love,
Charity.

That's what I would say. Hey God? Will you let them know? Thanks!
Anyhow.... thanks for letting me be a sap today, ya'll. :D

SMOOCHIES YA'LL! See ya next time!

PS... yup! I'm going back to school! I know, I know! Took me long enough. :D

So EXCITED for you about going back to school, Charity!!! What a big, wonderful step, and such a great example for your kiddos as they watch their mama study and work hard and do all the things they have to do at school. Neat, neat, neat!!!

P.S. Cute new background! :)

Thanks! :) I'm terrified and excited all at the same time! I don't really need school supplies, but the kids were so cute when we were out getting theirs. They had to pick out a few things for me so I could study, too! It was so much fun. And they were adorable.

Ain't it the perfect background? Love the choices from "The Cutest Blog on the Block"!

I am proud of you as always! You are a great mom and a great sister and a great friend! I am certainly blessed to have met you and have you in my life. Have I mentioned how very proud of you I am? Well, I knew you were smart and I know you can do it, and heck now I have someone to rant to when I need a ranting moment about school! ;)~ WE CAN DO IT!!!

I love you and I send my strong arms to give you big hugs and extra strength! YOU CAN DO IT!

With lots of love and hugs,

Tam
