Awwww shucks!

Last night, I was craving comfort food. And not stuff that a lot of people think of as comfort food... My comfort foods are foods that I love that my family only tolerates once in a great while. Sometimes it's Spanish Rice, sometimes Chipped Beef Gravy over rice, others it's Chili. This time, I wanted Shepherd's Pie.

Now this is something I know my kids aren't the biggest fans of and Matt isn't the biggest fan either, since it's a casserole and non of them are really into casseroles. But it was ok, cause Eli was at his friend's house and Matt and Sissy were inclined to pamper me while I suffered from missing-my-baby-itis. (This was the longest he has been that far away from home for that long.) I was happy, to a point. (Remember... my baby wasn't home. I wasn't gonna be totally happy.)

So it came time to cook, and off I went. I peeled the potatoes, boiled them just right, made the mashed taters, browned the hamburger, seasoned with grill seasoning, made the gravy, and added the veggies. Threw it in the pan, topped it with the taters and then added a layer of shredded cheese. In the oven at 350 for 30 minutes. TADA!!!

I was a little flustered when Sissy asked for 2nds. And then ate it all. And today, when we were deciding on lunch, she asked for some of last night's leftovers. (We had pancakes with peanut butter and Neutella instead.) Matt ate all of his and made sure I had some for his dinners at work. That felt good, too. But just now, Matt topped it all...

He told me that he heated up his dinner while at work, and the compliments rolled. One guy said it smelled like heaven. One said Matt sucked cause he hadn't brought enough to share. There were some other comments he shared with me, but I was to busy sniffling and wiping at tears in my eyes. I think next time, I'll make an extra pan for him to share.

Thanks, guys. You really made my day!

Smoochies, Ya'll!!!
